The 3rd meeting of the Discussion Club

On April 10, 2025, the third meeting of the Discussion Club was held, with the meeting topic: "Potato Top Dressing System". The meeting was held in a mixed format: at the Potato Institute and online.

During the meeting, welcoming remarks were made by: Executive Director of the UAPP - Olga Samoilichenko, Director of the AGRIСO Ukraine - Mykola Gordiychuk, Manager Business Innovation & Development of the AGRICO NL - Michel de Bruin, and Director of the Potato Institute - Mykola Furdyga.

The speakers of the meeting talked about the ratio between macro- and microelements and the influence of nutrients on the development of diseases, revealing the effectiveness of applying mineral fertilizers to potatoes. In particular, Viktor Riznyk, agricultural consultant of Agrico Ukraine, substantiated the peculiarities of the top dressing potatoes for various purposes: early, seed potato, for the production of chips, fries, starch. Also, representatives of farms shared practical experience in the application of potato top dressing systems. The participants of the meeting received answers to their questions.

The participants of the meeting actively discussed the following topics:

• Nitrogen application rates;
• The effectiveness of using liquid phosphorus or starting granules during planting;
• The role of microelements;
• Methods of applying boron;
• The influence of nutrients on the quality of potatoes.
